May: We are launching our final project of the year! Check your emails from your facilitators to find the project newsletter and rubric.
April: we are stocking maker mountain so that we can build our buddy benches (check the link on the welcome page)
April: our amazing habitats POL was the 15th! We are so proud of the deep learning and take action projects that the learners shared! They are learning that they can make a difference in the world!
January: Learners are working on their sky stories and getting ready for their amazing trading post POL.
November: We are headed out on a field trip. Check with your facilitator for details.
October: learners have been working hard on their space projects. Writing compare and contrast essays and acrostic poems are just a couple of creations.
September: We've launched our project learning about space! We also did a virtual tour of the International Space Station. We will be exploring "What does life require?", touring the universe, and exploring the idea of sustainability.
May: Our next project is a paleontology project: How do fossils help us learn about the past? How can I, as a paleontologist, learn about prehistoric times? This project launches on May 7th.
April: We held our first virtual POL for our grade level. Learners created QR codes to extend the information they wanted to share with their audience. The POL took place during the Expresstival.
March: Learners learned all about the life cycles of plants and animals and even planted their own garden!
February: What a fantastic POL! Learners presented their group-designed and created playground structure models. They also did a great job explaining the physical forces involved in the play structures.

January: Our physical sciences project kicked off with a great Bill Nye video and a super fun day at the park exploring all the physical forces we will be including in our playground design project.
November 17th: This week learners worked on learning about maps, creating beautiful work and beginning the first pages of their own "Me on the Map" books.
November 14th: The maps project launched today with a visit from some special pirates!
October 24th: POL day! Learners displayed, presented and shared their hard work.
October 13th: Learners finished personal timelines and person of influence interviews. They began writing their paper about their person of influence. Next week learners will create/bring artifacts and present their learning at the presentation of learning on October 24th from 11 am to noon.

October 6th: This week is the second week of our family tree project. Learners have been creating rough drafts of their personal timelines, including 3 events that they envision for the future for how they will personally make a positive impact on their family, friends and/or community. Final drafts are due this week.

May 26th: For our last project the learners will be creating a habitat and animal using recyclable and reusable items. We would love donations of clean boxes, milk containers, string, glue, tape or other recyclables or pre-owned items. We are having the learners create their project using these items as we are discussing human impact on our earth. Any donations will be gratefully accepted!
May 19th: Classes are visiting the Apple store one by one to learn about using Keynote to present information. Learners have been selected their habitats and keynote species to begin their research for the project in progress.
May 9th: Butterfly Release Party at the park. Learners observed their Painted Lady butterflies flying off to continue their life cycles. This week we learned about Tundra, Rainforest, Oceans, Grasslands and Deserts.
POL April 29th: What a great POL! The learners did such a great job!
Week of March 31st: We began our new social studies unit on March 31st. Learners had a visit from special guests, our country's founding fathers, who traveled through time to share the preamble of the Constitution with the learners. The classes created class bill of rights and the learners are working on creating their own individual Bills of Rights. The research portion of the project was sent home with each learner on April 3rd. Please complete the research and return the completed research on Tuesday April 15th.
Week of March 10th: This week, learners continued learning about various highlights of Santa Clarita History and sharing their learning with one another. They began the culminating activity of creating their own book about the aspect of history they enjoyed the most.
Week of March 3rd: Our learners are continuing to delve into Santa Clarita History. This week they have been working on a jigsaw cooperative learning activity. Groups have read articles about the history of Santa Clarita including: the Saugus train robbery, earthquakes, Magic Mountain and gold.
Week of February 17th: After a long weekend, the Voyagers presented their learning on the 18th in the form of scenes about traditions then and now. This was a great challenge for many learners! It was wonderful to observe so much synergy, collaboration and creativity.
Week of February 7th: Aps, aps everywhere! A great big thank you to all the parent volunteers to gave their time and supplies to make this project possible. The learners have enjoyed creating their own Chumash houses. The next Presentation of Learning is February 18th at 2 pm. Please join us!
January: What a great field trip to the Chumash Museum! The learners are synthesizing what they have learned so far about myths, symbols, Chumash tomols, Chumash houses, culture, and how the local environment and geography influenced the lives of the Chumash. Soon, the learners will be relating the information they have learned to themselves to prepare for the next presentation of learning.
November 13th: Learners did a fabulous job on their first POL! Thank you families for all of your support and encouragement to all of the learners!
November 1st: Learners began narrowing down their topic ideas and selecting their group and individual project focus. They have been SO excited during project time to be doing research and planning their projects!
October 17th: This week learners began learning about constellations and did a review of the International Space Station. A special thanks to Mr. O'Brien, astronomer and parent, who gave two very special and informative talks to the learners! The learners loved being a part of the scale model of the solar system.

October 11th: This week learners delved more deeply into learning about the planets in our solar system. They had so much fun collaboratively working on the planet cafe on Friday.
October 4th: What a fun week exploring the moon! Moon songs, moon craters and moon phases, oh my!
October 1st: Today each learner received a moon journal and a parent letter explaining the moon journal. The moon observations should begin tonight and continue each night for 14 days. The completed moon journals are due back to each facilitator on October 16th. Contact your facilitator if you have any questions about the moon journal project.
